Anyone throwing an Easter party?
I don’t know what the deal is lately, but I’ve encountered some rude and awkward people. Ya know those times when people are just so rude or weird, that you can’t even respond because there are too many things you could say, none of which you should!?
A couple of us were talking about this yesterday at Luke’s Grandma’s birthday party. There were many stories shared about people who have no concept of boundaries and personal space. Not gonna get into specifics with those stories, but it got me thinking. There are people out there that are really just not socially aware. I’m talking about the people that just don’t understand that they are invading your personal space, giving unsolicited advice, asking way too many personal questions, or sharing too much personal information…but sometimes people are just plain rude!
I’ve come across a few of these people. The kind of people whose rudeness makes an entire room of people feel incredibly awkward. Where the situation is so awkward that you just want to do or say ANYTHING to make the awkwardness go away. Ya know what I’m talking about? Those times when you can’t even bring yourself to call the rude person out, because that would just add to the already unbearable awkwardness!! I DON’T EVEN CARE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING JUST PLEASE STOP SAYING IT!
I love this quote. When someone is being a fool, I just don’t say anything because (though I could call them out and make them look stupid), they do such a fine job at embarrassing themselves that I don’t even need to do any extra work!
Here’s the thing I do not understand though: how are some people SO comfortable with being so rude??? If I am feeling too awkward to even call you out, how is it that you can stand to be in the presence of your own rudeness? Ugh. Rant Rant Rant.
Reminding myself of Proverbs 29:11 when I deal with rude people:
“A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
Trying to remember in those moments that God hears my every word, sees my every action, and knows every thought in my head and heart…and ya know, it doesn’t hurt to remember that he’s watching them too
